ASDOT financial support for overseas-trained professionals
The Assessment Subsidy for Overseas Trained Professionals program (ASDOT) assists financially disadvantaged overseas trained professionals. It provides financial assistance to cover the cost of assessments and/or examinations which must be passed to qualify for employment in certain professions in Australia.
The program is administered by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations in conjunction with Centrelink.
Who can apply for ASDOT
To get funding for ASDOT you must meet ASDOT eligibility requirements at the time the application for ASDOT assistance is made. You must:
- be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or New Zealand citizen living in Australia and
- hold or be named on a valid Centrelink concession card (Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card only) or you meet all of the requirements for the Centrelink Alternative Means Test excluding the requirement to serve a 104 week newly arrived residents waiting period.
How to apply for ASDOT
Submit your ASDOT application through Centrelink with these supporting documents:
- a current Australian passport, or a permanent residency visa or a current New Zealand passport and
- a valid Centrelink Concession Card (Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card only) or proof the Centrelink Alternative Means Test excluding the requirement to serve a 104 week newly arrived residents waiting period is met.
