Wage Assistance

Wage Assistance is a wage subsidy program for employers who employ Indigenous job seekers. Job seekers must be registered as Fully Job Network Eligible with Centrelink and identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Job seekers must also be:

Centrelink will issue eligible job seekers with a Wage Assistance card, which shows employers they may be eligible for a wage subsidy if they employ an Indigenous job seeker. Wage Assistance pays up to $4,400 to an employer over 26 weeks for full-time work of 35 hours or more per week and $2,200 over 26 weeks of part-time work of at least 15 (and less than 35) hours per week. The job must be covered by an Award or Agreement to be suitable for the subsidy.
