Indigenous Wage Subsidy Card
Indigenous Wage Subsidy is a wage subsidy program for employers who employ Indigenous job seekers. Job seekers must be registered as a Fully Eligible Participant with Centrelink and identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Job seekers must also be:
- receiving an income support payment, or
- a CDEP participant, or
- under 21 years of age, not on any allowance and registered with Centrelink, or
- eligible for the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs Disability Support Services.
Centrelink will issue eligible job seekers with a Wage Subsidy card, which shows employers they may be eligible for a wage subsidy if they employ an Indigenous job seeker.
Indigenous Wage Subsidy offers wage subsidies to employers of up to:
- $6,600 (including GST) over 26 weeks for ongoing full-time employment (35 hours or more per week, or as defined as full-time in the relevant industrial award or certified workplace agreement)
- $3,300 (including GST) over 26 weeks for ongoing part-time work of at least 15 hours per week, every week.
The Retention Bonus is available for positions with job start dates from 1 July 2009.
